    Greetings from the Bay Area!

Hi all, I've been a tent sleeper for over a decade but have recently started branching out into the Hammock World. I'm hoping to tap into some of the collective knowledge available here and hoping learn enough on my own to pass onto some other young bucks down the road!

Hi HamNCheeseShoes, and welcome to the forums. There's gotta be some reason for THAT name.

If you're wanting to tap into collective knowledge, this is a good spot. Check out the stickies in each forum and spend some time browsing those. If you haven't seen any of Shug's videos, there's a link on the HF home page for that. Also, Derek's book, "The Ultimate Hang" is something I consider required reading. It will save you time and money in the long run. Otherwise, just jump right on in.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the greetings! I am familiar with Shug and have churned through probably about 3/4 of his videos so far and learned a lot. Also got more than a few chuckles out it too haha. The Ultimate Hang is on the "to do" list

As for the name, it came to me randomly in the middle of the night. I made a fake account on a forum under the name to mess with one of my friends and tormented his posts for a while, what are friends for right!?

Good call on the redwoods. I was in Big Basin not too long ago and brought a single hammock with me for lounging in camp, long story short out of three days I got to hang once haha
