That's 11. Anybody else? How many permits do we have?
A lotta ins... lotta outs... lotta what-have-you's
I've already booked one for Friday 10th - Monday 13th. I extended it by one day just in case. Once we know how's going in early vs late I can PM the whole group.
Note: I believe that the permit holder needs to be signed in at a park office before others can piggyback on his/her permit.

I'm renting a boat at 8am, so I'll be going in with ggreaves (wave 2 I guess).
Well, if you're strong enough for a short portage trip, then maybe we do a quick follow-up spring trip canoe/hike, somewhere. Galeairy's likely a popular, no-portage, albeit overused lake but whatever. It'll still be lovely. Niger's also an option whether by hike or paddle. Maybe one canoe to paddle in the heavy stuff and everyone else can mosey along the snowmobile trail with a daypack and then bushwack down to the lake.

It would be an honour.
Went for a stroll to Tommy Thompson Park (Leslie Street Spit) yesterday, a 5km'ish long reclaimed spit of land jutting out into Lake Ontario just in front of downtown Toronto. When I reached the lighthouse on the hill at the end, I looked up and saw a hammock set up between two trees. Of course I hollered out a proud "Whoo-Buddy!!!" The guy sat bolt upright and searched from side to side a couple of times. I didn't get a holler back, so I reckon he was one of those shy, distant HF lurker types. Being justifiably afraid for my own skin, I left him to his own devices. I had to laugh. I hope I didn't spoil his spot on the spit. Next thing they'll be telling me is that the world is warming and Algonquin ice-out will be in March next year!!!! (Kidding. Global warming no joke!)
Okay, this is just stupid. I briskly walked the 9.5 km / 5.9 miles of the Spit in about an 110 minutes and felt really proud of myself for not keeling over with a heart attack. Now I just read this...
June 17, 2005 - A slower-than-normal walk may offer obese men and women a better bang for their buck when it comes to burning calories and avoiding knee injuries. Researchers found that obese people who walk at a slower pace burn more calories than when they walk at their normal pace. In addition, walking at a slower, 2-mile-per-hour pace reduces the stress on their knee joints by up to 25% compared with walking at a brisk 3-mile-per-hour pace.
Confounded scientists and doctors! First they say coffee's bad, then it's good, then it's bad again. Now they're telling me that I should slow my fat @ss down and forgo the hard earned satisfaction of getting a little exercise. Leeches! They're all a bunch of lunatics!
