Backpacking In PA ...Looking Best place Apprecitate Advice

Hello Everyone...just trying to plan a backpacking trip to PA in June and would welcome the suggestions to consider...about a 5 day trip. I'm 62 and my nephew is 24 years old. We of course use hammocks and have backpacking experience...looking for some solitude and water either lake or streams etc. Thanks for your help!!

Black Forest trail. 43 mile loop.. Rugged, beautiful, plenty of water. I did it in 4 days, 3 nights.. You can take your time and stretch an extra day easily. 20161012_094655.jpg20161013_135302.jpg only saw 1 other person out there the entire time..

Pick up a copy of Backpacking Pennsylvania by Jeff Mitchell. There's tons of information on trails. Some of it is basic, but it will give you ideas and resources to fond out about the trails in PA. I am partial to the Allegheny National forest. You could always do a section of the North country trail, link it up to the Tracey Ridge System of trails to do a loop, then hike back the section of the NCT. The area of the forest along the reservoir is beautiful, offers tons of camping, and as an added bonus you can swim in the reservoir to cool off.

+1 for BFT. I did it a couple of years ago in early April with heinous weather... def Type 2 fun, bordering on type 3. Would love to do it again in more agreeable conditions.

Susquehannock Trail System is just about perfect for 5 days if you like to hike all day or are speedy (about 80ish miles). Quehanna trail another great choice (70ish miles)
