I've tried that.. problem is it is only a one way trip. Since you can't fit them in your pack or under the tarp, you have to either deflate them or jettison them once you get to camp.

Just don't overdo it, like Lawnchair Larry.
UL, because nobody ever asks "How can I make my pack heavier?"

You could always bring some extra amsteel or paracord and tether it. Plus you won't have to bother with throwing your bag up on a branch to hide it from the bears.

An ideal system perhaps for the Great Plains Trail when it opens.

But hammocks love trees and helium balloons abhor them. Makes for a rough combo.

Fair enough. I don't suppose some of the cottage vendors could figure out a way to make airtight weather balloons from dyneema....

And helium is getting harder and harder to get. I spend more time backpacking and less time scuba diving because of the helium shortage (at least around NC).

The planet apparently has only a limited amount of helium, and we may run out...

    Well there's always hydrogen.

    Hmm... maybe not.

Not enough to keep Party City in business, evidently.
