Hammock Gear Quest Tarp/ seam seal or not?

I have this on order and wanted to find out what others have experienced or done. Thanks!

I have the same tarp and I did not seam seal mine and used it in a good down pour and it didn't leak

I've got a Quest and love the weight and packability. I did manage to poke a few pinholes in it somehow, probably a pine cone or something. I patched with silicone and it's good to go.

No seam sealing necessary, but make sure you don't hang it upside down. The ridgeline should have the tape (grosrain or whatever it is) UPWARDS on the outside as I found out by mistake.
It's kept me dry in some nice showers as well as at least one torrential blowing rain.

Thank you both! I think I’ll do the same and not seam seal it. I suppose I could always do it at a later date if I wanted or if I ever did notice a leak? Anyway, thank you for sharing your experiences!

I have a Quest tarp and was also really confused when i got a seam sealing kit. Never sealed it, bombproof always. My theory is that they send a kit with all tarps although the only one that needs sealing is the tie outs on the Journey.

I always seem seal every tarp I've ever owned. Found a small leak on my while on a 3 day trip and at that point it's too late. I think it's good insurance. The peace of mind for me is worth the extra effort.
Some days I can't tell whether I found a rope or lost a horse...

I have this tarp for my son's hammock and am debating if I should seam seal it as well. The description on the hammock gear web page does say it's desirable and I guess they should know. When I seam seal it I assume it's just the inside seam that needs sealing?

Received these instructions with my tarp. I did not seam seal the ridgeline. Dumped a ton of water on it and had no leaks. Probably playing with fire…. IMG_0421.JPG

+1 Pretty cheap peace of mind and not as if you'll hurt anything by doing it anyway.
