    SLOVAKIA: Ridgerunner on the ridge

4 days hike through the parts of Slovakia we have not visited before. Pristine forests, deep valleys and canyons full of waterfalls. We took the new ridgerunner for the test even it is something heavier in the backpack, but was worth the comfort. Ridgerunner dedicated underquilt would make a difference together with carbon fiber spreader bars and cutting the bugnet. That is another story, lets see what is hidden in the hammocking paradise.

The mountains are not high but the difference in weather conditions between the ridge and valley is huge. There are flowers in full bloom down there, while we are still without any green freshness on the hill.

But hey there was a sunny weather all the time and we enjoyed some fabulous sunsets

There is a full moon period over here and together with stars and High Tatras in the backround, one could not close the eyes and just sleep.

Different world in the valley, the spring at its best with many protected plants.

Numerous waterfalls accompanied with ladders or wooden stairs

On the ridge again and coffee time

No fire here, but the stove and good chief make the job

    Another canyon ...

You can see the beetles up there

And another night to spend ...

Coffe in the morning as usual ...

Slovakia is truly a hiking paradise! These pics even made this old man want to go.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

NICE! Some of those stairs appeared to be slick. Most hikers discount the Ridgerunner for its weight but fail to remember the under quilt is so much small due to the fitted fit.

Exquisite. The mountains in the distance look a bit like my backyard, including the current snow line. The endless series of ladders/steps is quite an interesting trail system.

Do you know your flowers? I decided the purple blossoms were in the nightshade family (Solanaceae) and not violets. And the greenish yellow were possibly an Umbelliferae or Apiaceae (Parsley/Carrot) that commonly are early bloomers.
