Hanging opportunities on Copper Ridge Trail, North Cascades

Specifically at Boundary Camp, Indian Creek Camp and Copper Lake Camp.

Some friends and I are doing the loop in late July and judging from satellite views it appears Boundary and Indian will likely be okay, but Copper Lake might be questionable.

Any first-hand (or second-hand, too!) hanging advice for this area is much appreciated.

I have never hung a hammock in that area, only in the Olympics close to there, but it certainly looks like there are plenty of trees. I have tent camped on the ridge above the Coleman Glacier, on the west(?) side of Mt. Baker, and there were also plenty of trees there up to about 5000 ft, about zero trees above that elevation.

Thanks, BillyBob... based on those photos taken at Copper Lake I don't think there will be any problem finding trees for the hammock!

You're welcome! You should have a grand trip. When you are looking up to the peak of Mt. Baker(which took the world record away from Mt.Rainier(sp?) for most annual snowfall a few years ago, well over 1000 in at about 5000 ft), picture me on the tippy top, looking down into the steaming crater, back around June 87 or 88. I don't do such wild things anymore, I'm happy these days just to walk around in such beautiful areas. (age 70 now, bout 38 when I climbed Baker) It really is SUCH a beautiful area.

    Haha will do!

Back in the late '90s I did some summits out there, including Baker, Shuksan and, farther south, Glacier Peak, although I never did Rainier. However, when we did Baker it was all socked in with weather and didn't see anything (it was June... way too early out there) but Shuksan and Glacier were in early August and it was fantastic.

I'm 63 and while I think I still have the ability I no longer have the desire.
