Tensa Outdoor: Tell me about you experience with the tarp extensions

My appreciation of the Tensa4 hammock stand is growing as I continue to experiment with the set-up.

The one regret I am beginning to realize is I skipped adding the Tarp Extensions. The price seemed high, I have tarp poles for other applications, I had other creative ideas, etcetera, etcetera,

I am leaning toward placing a order but first, I am interested in your reviews regarding the Tensa tarp extensions. How stable is your tarp? How difficult is it to deploy your tarp? Will the extensions hold if the tarp is hung but left inside the tarp sleeves "just-in-case"?

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

The tarp extensions do require a bit of dialing in but overall to get the tarp up a little higher or hang a longer tarp I like them. Definitely sturdy. I was set up at a scout camp out and the second night we had a big storm with heavy winds. Everything held up just fine. I see no reason a tarp couldn't be hung in a snake skin and not deployed. With a bit of creativity you could create ur own but kind of nice to have theirs already made up.

Another advantage of the tarp extensions is that they make it much easier to take the hammock on and off the stand without removing the tarp first. Handy for putting up or taking down the hammock in the rain.

We had an over-hyped threat of a spring snow storm last night while we camped out. I rolled the dice (because I trust Weather Underground - mostly) and kept my tarp in the skins when strung on the tarp extensions. No issues to report, but none expected either. The snow finally arrived 7 hours later than predicted by the hyper-hypers.

I've only set my tarp extensions up in the back yard for a test but they certainly solve my number one complaint about the Tensa 4 stand: the tarp hangs too low without them. I was bale to go from my 11 foot to my 12 foot tarp and hang it at least a foot higher. That makes it much easier to get in and out of the hammock.

Don't get me wrong, the stand without the extension is great. The tarp extensions just make it easier to hang like I would in trees.

Thanks everyone. I have tried a few different options of my own that have been less than satisfying. So, I am placing an order for the real deal this afternoon.

My order is already processed and tracking number issued. After 2 orders, I think they might be a bit telepathic at Tensa outdoors. Be careful: just think about ordering and the ball is already rolling
