Hammock newbie doing my first hang tonight

I’m a motorcycle but and have left on a 3,000 mile trip. My steer of choice on this runs is a 1975 BMW. I like. A long and want to be able to do more of it in the summer but it’s so hot tent just doesn’t work out for me so we’ll. So I’m trying the hammock set up. Tonight is my first night to give it a run. I’m in NM and as normal I just jump in neck deep. I have spent days read this forum which then lead me to shug and I have watched almost every vid he has on hammock set up and reviews. I just bought a. Heap set up to see if this thing is even going to work out for me or not. A friend has loaned me a under quilt and top blanket to use. Wish me luck

Hi John, Wow I'd say your reading has paid off. You've got a nice setup there.
Enjoy the road, my friend, your nites will greatly improve. No reason to start too early it can be a bit chilly on the face. Sleep in you are not missing a thing.

A bit late, but good luck with the hanging. You'll have to post an after report too (I think it's mandatory)
Welcome to the forums, by the way.
    Cheers.

Here’s the after report. The wind was fierce and the hammock started bounced g. When I decided to take a look I noticed the trees were swaying with the wind which were causing the hammock to gain and lose tension. Which had me bouncing up-and-down in the hammock. So I switched to the tent I brought for back up. I never really got a flat lay and from that my lower back hurt. Never fear, I’m giving it a go again tonight. I’m to hard headed to give up easily.

Give me your thongs on the hang? Here’s a few pics0D508F23-7224-4A5E-9B63-0AEA4BE3FBE9.jpg

Here my thong, wait what What's the size of the hammock? If it's a 10 footer you may have trouble getting a comfortable flat lay. Check out some of the hammock from the cottage vendors and get a good one before giving up.

That first picture showing both ends of the hammock, it looks like maybe the angle on the straps is a bit steep. But honestly, if the wind is moving the trees like that, you're going to feel it no matter what your hang angle. Larger trees will mitigate that motion somewhat. Otherwise, looks like a pretty typical hang, just a steeper angle on the straps that I prefer. Have fun with the repeat performance.

Well guys I made it through the second night and slept good. This is going to be my new setup. Thanks for all the help if it wasn’t for this forum I wouldn’t have been ready for the hammock camp and would have been miserable.
