    Dynaweave vs Polyester

I’m currently using a strap to continuous loop configuration (Jbend, Becker Hitch) and think it’s the bee’s knees. I have a set of Dynaweave straps. I have only had the opportunity to use them once. I love that they are ~1/3 the weight of Polyester straps, but I do not like how they kind of roll into a “cord” almost.

Has anyone tried Dynaweave and switched back to Polyester?

Not Dynaweave but Venom (UHMWPE with practically identical characteristics), and had the same experience. Gets annoying after a while, dunnit??

I have been around the block a few times with polyester, Mule Tape, Myerstech, etc and have finally settled upon Kevlar. For me it has the best combination of weight, handling and durability, and it holds knots well and releases them easily... at least the knots I use.

However, if weight and volume are not issues for you, it's hard to beat good ol' polyester.

I haven't tried Kevlar yet (other than using kite line for guylines back in the day) but of the UL strap options I've used - Dynaweave, Mule Tape, Dutch Spider Web 1.5 - I've come to prefer the Dynaweave. Anything undesirable about the Dynaweave is even more pronounced on the Spider Web.

I'm not certain how it's made, but the look of Dynaweave reminds me of a lighter weight version of my workhorse strap material for home use - Dutch's black and white Spider/Poly.

I tried it and went back to poly.

I need to try Kevlar though.

I still use my original Warbonnet buckles and straps but I’m often tempted by the lighter suspension options. I used whoopies for a bit but they didn’t do it for me.
So thanks for the feedback in this thread. I may have to finally get my feet wet.

I am having the same experience. I am also having the same consideration of switching back.

I got to play with a set of these last weekend at a hang. Couldn't believe how light they were, but didn't like how the bunched up and became "rope like" through the loop. I know it's all visual and has nothing to do with strength, but I just didn't like how it looked.

I didn't like how it rolled and then bit into the tree bark causing tree damage.

This is what I have the biggest problem with. I (almost) feel bad when I use 1" straps instead of 1.5" straps.

I never had the issue with 1" Nylon or PE straps. The Dyneema straps roll to resemble a 1/4" cord.
