Hello from The Greater Houston Area - Katy, TX to be specific.

I’m quite new to hammocks and hammock camping. My older brother has been at it for years, but I just got hooked by the hang. My oldest son just started camping with me this spring (he’s a Tiger Cub). On our first camp out together (and sadly, my first in years), I realized ground sleeping was something my body wanted to leave in the past. So, at the suggestion of my brother, I got my first hammock and rain fly a few months ago. Even though they were inexpensive Amazon gear, I immediately saw the wonders hammock camping.

Long story short, I’ve started amassing more gear to outfit myself, my three boys, and hopefully, my wife when I manage to convince her to join us.

Thanks to all who have helped create this forum. It has and will continue to be a key resource as I dive deeper and deeper into this sub-genre of camping.

And you speak the truth about the bank account, LOL. It’s amazing how many things I all-the-sudden need. Luckily, there are some awesome cottage vendors out there that also make you feel good about handing over your hard earned dollars.

Welcome, I just started this journey myself and the wife has decided she likes it as well. Right now in Arkansas the lows are dipping in the 40’s so she was just chilling in the open carport, where mine was hanging. Good luck with the family, that’s makes it all worth while
