    Congaree NP - June

    Hey Y'all,

My youngest daughter and I are headed to Congaree NP in SC for a few days in June to do some work for her undergrad research. Can anyone tell me whether any of the campsites in the main camp are hammock friendly. In this case meaning sites that have adequate trees for at least one hammock? We'll have 2 hammocks to hang but I can bring a stand if needed.

    Thanks!

Hi! I think all of the sites have plenty of trees. Check out this video to see each site. Hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you!!! I just made reservations for 2 nights at Longleaf campground, based on this thread. Apparently they have an amazing display of fireflies for the next few weeks....I hope I can catch some of the display.

Let us know how it goes.
I keep meaning to camp down there but just never get around to it. No excuse either being within 2 hours.

Make sure to take a bug headnet, wide brim hat, long sleeve shirt, long pants and even gloves just in case. Spray you clothing and gear down with Permethrin before you go. I hope you are early enough that the mosquitoes aren't too bad yet. Visited one time in September with my wife and we got maybe 30 feet out on the board walk before we hurried back to the car. The Mosquito Meter at the office was between severe and ruthless at that time. Then again, hiked the trails away from the swamp in April one year and never saw the 1st mosquito. I still want to get down there and see the champion trees sometime.
