Hello and Thank You, from Chicago

    Greetings all,

Been hanging around the forums for a couple of years now (inadvertent pun #sorrynotsorry) and realized I've never actually posted, so long overdue...but here goes none-the-less. First off a THANK YOU to all the experienced folks here...you have helped immensely in not suffering too badly or killing myself as I continue to go further down this glorious rabbit hole.

Got into this all in preparation for a late summer fishing trip to middle of nowhere Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Ended up settling on a WBBB XLC and Superfly and convinced by the upcoming 40 degree nights (and suggestions here) to get an UQ. In all my years of camping, never have I been more comfortable or well-rested as I have since leaving ground-dwelling (and even in this case cabin dwelling) behind. I even have brackets and lag bolts now in a spare bedroom for hanging year round even just for relaxing and napping!

Working on some new custom equipment, and even gonna try my hand at sewing some stuff myself...thanks for all the advice thus far. Hope I can lend a voice when appropriate going forward. All the best!

Welcome to HF. Lots of hammockers from Chicagoland inhabit this space from time to time. Great bunch of cooks, talkers, and other talents.

I'm from NE Ohio but I was just at Indiana Dunes National Park. Dunewood campground has some pretty decent hanging sites. You can get there from Chicago on a train. The station is very close to the campground.

I'm up the road from you in Milwaukee. Welcome to the forum! We have a lot of group hangs between WI/ IL/ MN & MI. I keep regional ones I know about in my signature file. (see below). I hope to meet you at one of them sometime!

@Karla "with a k" thanks for the list of area hangs...I'll def have to try and find my way out!

We live close I ate lunch yesterday at Chucks on Cass Ave. If you are looking for a nearby hang check out https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...canal-saturday . I have been there several times and Mark goes often. It is a good one night get away. I frequently paddle to the camp site.

Welcome to HF! A former resident of the 'burbs here. If you ever come to IN for a hang, please bring me pizza and/or an Italian beef.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?
