    The Beginnings of a Hammock!

Well, I finally started the the hammock project. I was looking for information on hammock building and found the Hammockforums so I thought I would share my journey.

The wife has been asking for a Hammock for some time so I took the plunge. Here is a picture of how it stands today.

I used 4x6 pressure treated posts with a 4x6 top cross support that will eventually support some lattice for shade. I placed each of the support posts in a 24 deep hole with 145 lbs of high strength concrete. I will cover clad each of the posts and the cross member in Redwood fence boards before placing the redwood lattice on top, this will hide the metal braces. The wood you see on the ground creating the box is 4x6 weathered telephone cross members that were repurposed. I will be filling the box area with pavers.

    Thoughts...?

It's gonna be tough to take it car camping, nevermind any type of backpacking trip.

On a serious note, it looks good!

Looks good so far! The redwood cladding will be a nice touch. I love the up-cycled cross arms as well. Keep up the good work, and post more pictures as you go!

Looks nice! A nice coat of rust-oleum paint on those L brackets.
    Mini bar?

I always like going South; somehow, it feels like going downhill.
