If nothing else comes up, I can hike in on Friday after work and leave late Saturday unless I can get someone to work for me on Sunday. I'd be coming in from Pats. Is there any parking at Hopkins Prairie if I wanted to add a little extra mileage?

The scouts and I will be on the road to philmont on this weekend. So we will not to be able to make it. I will pass this info on the C+1 and see if she is interested.

One day is better than none. Bring plenty of water or start at first light for starting at HP trailhead.

Funny story, not too funny.
A few years ago for Summer's Last Gasp, I left my shoes at home since I was a soccer coach and was wearing cleats. I went straight to Ocala after the game. So I hiked in and out with my cleats. I found out that day that cleats were made for running on flat grass and not hiking through the woods.
If you're still wanting to come out, you have the main ingredients in a hammock and food prep. Regular shoes are fine if they're running or walking shoes, just not dress shoes. We can probably fit you with the rest if you need. Most of us have a second pack or two if you need until you're properly fitted out.

Can't remember the last time I even looked at the forums, but so happy I did. Count me in Juan! Pat's Landing on Friday, in by noon, unless the Bears get me!!

Today in 4 weeks we will have a survivors list, er, a trip report on Summer hammock camping Florida heat style.
If you want to experience the true Florida backwoods, come on out and enjoy the strange experience of getting CBS in Summer, in Florida.

The details of your instructions inspired me to go to Juniper Springs on Saturday June 22. I didn't make it close to Hidden Pond because I'm out of shape and my heel pain kicked in. And I can report there were mosquitoes. And a few fireflies where I set up camp. I guess points for trying a five mile hike and I made it out bug-bitten and alive.
