Anyone have any experience with failures using UHMWPE suspension systems? Would like to know real world experiences. What would the likely causes be? Excessive UV exposure? Abrasion? Excessive use of J-bend or Becket hitch knots? Cheers!

I’ve had Kevlar get abrasion from yanking slipknots loose after hanging all night—with Carolina Red suspension.
I’ve heard of very rare damage to strap when using Dutch clip. In my opinion it was probably user error. Dutch is a good man and he shows on videos proper use of Dutch clip.
I’ve seen my whoopie sling and others have braid become separated at bury exit. This again is mainly user error. If you pull bury at exit at 90* angle to suspension or even worse in a 180* Uturn to suspension, then you will likely have separation. You can still use it even though it looks bad and is weakened somewhat but most likely plenty strong enough for most hammock camping.
And for us knot people, it’s possible to degrade amsteel if there is MOVEMENT in knot or rope as weight is applied. And sometimes knots can squish amsteel and cause it to be no longer round. If amsteel turns black due to rope burn caused by movement or sliding—it must be replaced.
In my opinion, the products are top notch A1 good
And they become damaged mostly by user error.
I am a human, somewhat, and I make mistakes.
When I mess up, all I gotta do is order from Dutch and our other beloved hammock vendors. Then I have Happy Face.
