Tarp guy line options for long distance hike?

Do you guys keep your tarp guy lines connected to tarp when long distance hiking or keep them separated? Looking for options and simple solutions. Cheers!

I keep my tarp in a set of Tarp Sleeves w/pockets on the ends for my non-continuous ridge line (1.75 Lash-it on Dutchware Stingerz). My guy lines (Z-Packs 1.25mm Z-line) are coiled and rolled up inside the tarp. I have never found a reason to remove any of the lines from the tarp.

Yep, always attached to tarp. First time I saw someone removing their guylines, figure 8ing them and putting them in little bags, I about cracked up.

Then I saw another guy doing the same not long after. He went home after his trip, left the wet guylines in the plastic bags, and he ended up with moldy guy lines.

No, mine are attached to stakes, with a Dutch tarp worm. I have shock cord loops on the tarp tie outs.

My lines always stay attached to the tarp. I simply Marlin spike the free end on to the stake.

Leave them attached. Then you can't forget to pack them and leave them at home or at a campsite when packing to move. It also wastes time to remove them and reattached them each time,

Mine are always attached since all of my tarps and hot tent (Simply Light Designs) plus my HG cuben tarp all have integrated line locks. No chance of losing expensive hardware and they are simple!

I don’t do any long distance hiking, but I keep my guylines on my tarp for three main reasons

- Ease/speed of setup, particularly if it’s raining. No fumbling to connect lines to the tarp when you need it up quick.

- Never forget to pack them, and never leave them behind.

- If they get wet, they dry out when you dry your tarp.
