I just finished reading a packable book about entering the Boundary Waters to homestead in 1910. It is a fast read and would be a good pass around for the SHT campers. The title is Boundary Waters Boy by Jack Blackwell and goes to show just how tough life used to be. The Maple King would like it. Should arrive on the twelfth.

Excellent trip report as always Man, that sunset at Parent Lake pulled my backpacking heart strings hard. I swear, felt a real pull in my chest, lol I need to get out soon.
As always awesome nature photography, love love you music, and entertaining commentary.

    Thanks for sharing, Happy Trails

That sounds like a great read. Like those early homesteaders in the Linville Gorge...Tough going!!!!
    Thank you.

Great video Shug... beautiful area to hike in & it's always fun when you go solo & have the whole place to yourself.

Good to see an Amigo still in service too. I've still got mine (blue) & for in-camp, it's one of my favorite pieces of gear.

Thanks, as always, for the fantastic trip report. I love the Snowbank, Disappointment, Parent area, though I've only done it by canoe, not hiking. It was my daughter's first BWCA experience.

Aside from that, I'm sharing my thoughts to say that I had to make a run to Duluth today, and got off the freeway at 33 to try the famed double cheeseburger. I have to say, without reservation, that Gordy's does not disappoint. Maybe the best double cheeseburger I have ever had, along with those famous fries and a chocolate malt. Exquisite, and I thank you for the intel.

Am I the only person whose wife, before heading upstairs to bed, says something along the lines of "Goodnight. Don't stay up too late watching that Shug fella"?

A day with a new Shug video is a good day. Once, and only once, I was the first viewer!
