    WTB Down for quilts

    Hi , i need some down for a couple of quilts , i fancy attempting to make a quilt and underquilt.

    Is it the best down that is normally used, or could i use the inside of some pillows or quilt ,which is usually a mix of both.

    Ideally, you'd want to use the best down you can afford. 750 or higher is going to give you less weight per finished size and a smaller packed size.

    Pillows and comforters usually have a mix of down and feathers - not so great for backpacking, but usable.

    Cheers Jerry, i thought that was the case, but if that mix is good for my bed its good enough for me hammock,I am not a gram weenie and the weight difference must be minor.
