It's been relatively cool here in IL. Lots of rain of course. I keep hearing people say things like "when is summer going to come?" I don't want to generalize too much but I think a lot of those people:

    - mostly go from an air conditioned home to an air conditioned car to an air conditioned workplace, and few places that don't fit that pattern.
    - will start complaining how hot, humid, and buggy it is when "summer does come."

Since I'm pretty much insane, I'm already thinking about another trip. Just days after telling myself "never again". I did the same thing last year.

I'm a glutton for punishment and have a short memory too. Still looking forward to heading to GT the 3rd weekend of July.

I always backpack the weekend before or after the 4th of July and this year is no different. Last year I had an epic hot weather trip with the added bonus of a heat advisory ( https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...-2018-38-miles ) . Of course I said "never again"....Sure, right.... Last night I sprayed my gear in a mega dose of permetherin in preparation for another NCT segment through the Manistee Forest and rivers. Should be an interesting hike, since rain and hot weather is in the forecast.
