Question Toggled Larks Head for Whoopie Sling to Hammock CL

I saw this idea on the Ultimate Hang, I think, and upon searching through the site, I couldn't find any posts of anyone's experience with trying it.
The idea, as shown in the photos, would be to connect the whoopie sling to the CL on the hammock with a toggle so if I wanted/needed to remove the sling quickly, I could. For example, if I was limited to trees too close together for the slings or if the slings were wet/dirty I could easily remove them.

The photos show a pen as an example, but for the actual application, I am thinking of using a solid rod of steel or alternative strong, durable, yet lighter material.

Has anyone used this technique? If yes, did/does it work? What are the pros / cons?

If unweighted or jostled, the toggle could slip out. Caribiner would fix that.

The simpler no-hardware solution is to simply loop the two ends together:

I've done it, on rare occasions. Yes it will work but, as leiavoia pointed out, a carabiner works better. Loose toggles are problematic, a biner is more convenient and lighter.

I use Dutch Biners. Very light weight and also makes a great water break. Next set of whoopies I make, I am going to throw on a pair of whoopie hooks and see how they work out.

I like to use a soft shackle type for my hammock ends, it's attached with a lark's head as usual but with the knot on the end so that the whoopie sling or what ever is currently in use can just be put on the knot and voila. Easy attachment of anything with a loop, and can always just loosen it from the hammock for a pretty much direct connection to anything if at absolute minimum distance. No extra parts, nothing to lose, just pure convenience.

After reading the feedback, I quickly came to the conclusion my desire to experiment was getting in the way of the simple solution. I think I'll pick up a pair of Dutch biners next month and call it a good solution. However, I'm keen to keep to a minimum amount of hardware (personal preference, no strong logical reason), so I might reach out to Dutch what he would charge for a pair of 7/64 soft shackles.

Should by some amsteel and a spicing tool from him instead and learn some DIY skills, every one wins that way. Dutch gets money and you still get new gear along with some knowledge.

If you want to go cheap, you can even just skip the splicing tool and use a bit of floristry wire folded in half, which is the single best splicing tool I've ever used, honestly.

Agreed, you can do an awful lot of good things with a 1.5-2' piece of floral wire folded in half, along with a little cutting board and a sharp knife.

Thank you all for the encouragement to further my DIY skills. I think I will do just that. Now to study those How-To videos.
