    I got that itch

Currently in a SLD 1.6 Hexon wide hammock w/ a fronkey bug net. It’s great...the perfect stretch, can get a flat lay...really no complaints.

But...I can’t get the Eldorado out of my head. Am I crazy? Will I be getting something that’s better or worse? I have pretty wide shoulders, 6’1” and 215lbs.

Can someone talk me out of it?

I could. Unfortunately, despite being educated, I am no good at being politically correct. We are similar in size, and I have the new version of the XLC. I am more comfortable in the wide body hammock I have made from the same material as yours. It really isn't close. Especially when it is under 20°F.

The shipping cost talked me out of it.

That’s what I’m worried about, the comfort being worse but I hyped myself up for the new hammock. Maybe I should just be content with my comfortable, dialed-in modular system.

I am so comfortable in that modular system, I purchased a second one to keep in my back up vehicle, (yes there's a tarp in there too!) I work nights, and those 60° slightly rainy days, are Devine for sleeping during the day while working the Vampire shift.
So doesn't matter which vehicle I drive, I'm good to go.

Never had Eldorado but had newer XLC and theory is to hang foot end much higher because of sewn in foot box. WB quality is top notch craftsmanship. XLC lay felt a little closer to ridgeline so a little less headroom.

SLD hammocks are all excellent top notch quality and are roomy with a more traditional hang due to lack of foot box.

You can't go wrong either way but they are similar yet very much night and day in some regards.

I think with WB you get limited custom options out of box in order for them to keep inventory in stock but you might email to ask to work with you. SLD is usually open to custom since it's all created on the fly.

You might want to keep an eye out in the forums maybe one Eldorado will come up on sale but really honestly you will have to try it to truly understand the differences in my opinion.

I wonder if I should look into getting a Dutch Half zippered wide in 1.6 and save a couple ounces by doing so. The fabric is perfect, I like how it’s “self contained” with the bug net (nothing will fall out), pack hooks and it’s slightly lighter.

why not get a SLD trail lair made out of the 1.6 wide material?

Haha I was just emailing Jared about that. I’d rather do business with Jared, the turn around speed with free shipping is unheard of. My current hammock was shipped out within hours of being ordered. Dude never sleeps because I ordered it at 5 am one day.

yep. Jared is the fastest vendor here. I've had custom built hammock from SLD shipped faster than another vendor shipped out an already made in stock hammock.
