    Hammocking on the CDT

I'm heading SOBO and currently 235 miles in. I've been able to hammock every night on the trail so far and am setting a waypoint every night I camp. Red Flags = Hammocks spots. I will post an Excel sheet after the hike with more detailed notes about the hangs but in the meantime, here is my Space Jam CDT Tracker: http://us0-share.inreach.garmin.com/A47NY

While I have no plans to thru hike the CDT anytime soon, I do want to say thank you for doing this sort of nuts and bolts reporting. One thing I like to do before going on a trail is to find out what I can from those who have been there before me. While sometimes I think it's better to avoid posting GPS coordinates of hidden off trail wonders to avoid having them overrun, posting coordinates of a marked and publicized trail like the CDT, AT or PCT is more than acceptable. So, thanks.

That is great info. I am heading up to Montana in August to do a section hike of the CDT and this will really come in handy. I intend to start around West Yellowstone and hike for about 7 days. I welcome any suggestions you have on where to start and stop a hike of this duration in that area. Unfortunately I suspect that you will be past this area by the time I arrive. Best wishes on your hike.

I'd say you will be hammocking a lot from my research on the CDT so far.

    Happy Trails!

Definitely interested in seeing your final numbers. I just biked the GDMBR - plenty of hanging spots in WA/ID/MT/ID and northern WY, then opportunities petered out once I hit the basin. Of course the CDT trail isn't quite the same as the Divide route, you get more wilderness, all good.

Looks like you just landed in Rawlins...nice. Two thumbs up for the hostel in Salida when you get down there. And both pizza places are excellent.
