But what would keep the suspension from just sliding down the ridgeline of the hammock? Something has to be anchored down somewhere.

[QUOTE=rweb82;1978381]Thank you! That is exactly the explanation I was looking for. Do you feel the UQ spreads out better with the TTs, and by not having to rely on the primary suspension? Is it less restrictive?

I use a Klemist instead of a Prussic on the ridge line (both ends) then I use a evo loop or soft shackle to capture the UQ suspension and fasten to the Klemist on the ridge line. Removing the primary suspension does seem to make it less restrictive. The only con to drawing the UQ suspension up to the ridgeline is that makes it very difficult to pull the UQ off to the side to vent/ cooloff .

David is correct.. I join the primary suspension over the top of the ridge line/bug net. The texture of the bug net keeps the soft shackle from sliding.

On the Half Wit style hammocks I have a small prussik through the mitten hook that keeps the hook from sliding.

I'll see if I have pictures of either setup

    reweb,

I think Chesapeak had a video on how he made a setup like the TT with just some shock cord, prussik knots and 2 toggles. Maybe search for that video and try his setup before buying/making the TT. Might save you some time, money and headache.

Luckily for me, I have been able to avoid having to use the TT/or clone. My HG Incubators UQ's have served me very well.

    Be safe.

I rigged up some triangle thingies last night with some leftover zingit and mitten hooks I had lying around. I initially tested it using just the secondary suspension of my UQ. It did work, but not having a primary suspension made the sides of the UQ a little floppy. I can play around with it more; but I've been pretty happy with how my UQ performs with the usual setup. I was mostly curious about the triangle thingies to help the UQ spread out better.
