    Lagging Snake Skins?

    Hello,

    Noob here.

Looking for a thread on Leggings (Yoga pants) snake skins and couldn't find one. There were some users who referred to "pantyhose snakes".

I just cut up an old pair of mine and sewed them into two snakes. I will try them this weekend and see how that goes. They may be a bit short (eno JN) but perhaps that isn't as important as I may be feeling?

    Has anyone tried this?

    Thoughts?

That's a pretty good idea. Yoga pants are pretty lightweight and fairly durable, so I can see them being a good candidate.
I tried the loofah snakeskin and found the material, as others have been saying, is quite fragile. But since I used old loofahs from the shower (cleaned out first), I didn't waste any money on them.
I have been making my more proper snake skins from old / leftover bug netting.
A day camping in the rain is better than a good day at work,

    Thank you for the smiles.

Yeah, I climb in yoga pants and haven't destroyed any of them on Quartzite yet, so I had a feeling they might be more sturdy than some other materials. Though they are quite breathable, they probably lack the ventilation of bug netting. My climbing/backpacking buddy (lurker here) wants mesh snakes, so perhaps I will find some net and get back to work on a second pair with bug net.

    TY!!!!

What's the difference between a "legging" snakeskin and a "lagging" snakeskin?

A legging snakeskin stays in your pack, while a lagging snakeskin always falls behind the pack.

Sorry, couldn't resist! let us know how it works out!

Largely typos. But they do slither quite slowly.

Just relax and drink beer until one of them snakes skins win the race.

I watched a youtubber last night that mentioned that they had made their hammock bug net out of sheer curtain panels from Wal-mart. Just checked online and there was many sheer curtains under $6. Might be a cheep source for mesh snakeskin material..

Spandex fabric is actually quite heavy for this type of application. I think bug mesh or other ultralight nylons would still be a better way to go.

How can these be long enough to cover a full size tarp? I don't get it...
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
