Welcome fellow PWNer. Re fire and stoves, I’ve settled hard on an old solution I’m always surprised isn’t more popular: chimney kettles. I have 3 kinds! It’s a water vessel with a conical chimney through center, doubling as a canteen. Build a tiny fire in bowl under, literally a handful of small twigs, and it boils it fast, very little of the heat escaping up the chimney. The updraft stokes the fire pretty fierce. Also accepts solid fuel tablets or alcohol burners if wood wet or banned. Perfect if all your cooking is limited to boil/soak.

You mean a kelly stove? Got one! Mine get's used ragged and always in the truck, but don't usually pack it on walkabout. Just a bit too bulky, but yeah... an excellent piece of kit, that. You don't see them often though and always kind of wondered why.

    Thanks for the welcome!

If you had to guesstimate, about how many ounces of fuel do you think you burn per cup?

I'm thinking this is something I might look in to further. I usually have a few heat tabs, but they don't get much better than luke warm on a full sized cup.

The key being to get my morning kick start with the least amount of effort as possible. LOL

Hey, thanks! I wasn't aware of those and might just do the trick. I much prefer the option of fuel on hand versus having to pack around a limited supply.

Talk about sticker shock. ;-) But, yeah, that's going to work for me. Sure appreciate you bringing it to my attention. I've used a kelly for as long as I can remember but had no idea they made them that small.

No idea why they haven't caught on in the U.S. For literaly a fist full of whatever to do a full on meal is kind of crazy to me, but to each their own.

    Much appreciated, brother.
