There is a knot called Grog Sling that shows what I call a locked brummell. I’ve used Grog Sling as my continuous loop for years without any fails.
There are “neater” ways to splice continuous loops. If you go wayback in time, Hammock Forums has long threads discussing best ways to splice continuous loops. Some of these ways called it locked brummell when it was not a locked brummell. Same thing in some videos on YouTube. There was no actual lock—only thing holding your carcass off ground are short spliced buries.
I recommend continuous loops made same as Grog Sling. And as Old Pros have described, make buries as long as possible—meeting in middle or at far end of loop.

For Dyneema, the recommendation is for buries to be 72 times the diameter of the rope. That's closer to 8" if my calculations are correct. And they have to be tapered properly to avoid a breaking point where the bury ends.

I've made some that I have used extensively with buries that are shorter than the 'ideal' ~8" recommendation... maybe around 5"... and never have a problem.

Just for giggles, make a test UCR or whoopie and play around with different finished bury lengths to see what works. And use a whipped end or prusik on the unloaded end of UCRs because without it they can slip no matter how long the bury!

Some hammock campers want very short continuous loops. Possibly to be lighter (less grams) or for better minimum hang distance. Their continuous loop is held together with a stopper knot.
To reduce slim chance of stopper knot failing or inverting? Why not do a locked brummell first to close continuous loop, and then tie diamond knot? You could still bury loose end in continuous loop to finish stopper knot.

If you want very short loops and a much higher safetey margin, try dog bones with short eye loops. Fold in the middle, pull the middle through the channel (or wrap it around the hammock end if the hammock is whipped) and feed it through both eye loops. Dog bones have to be longer than continuous loops, but since you fold them in the middle, the length is halved. A properly spliced dog bone will never pull apart accidentally because it's locked - and it will look cleaner than a locked continuous loop.
