Hammock Camping (Car Camping, Not Backpacking) pennsylvania Trip Planning Help

Hi I am planning on a camping trip with my friends. They live in Washington DC and I live in upstate NY. We were thinking Pennsylvania was a good midpoint. I have never camped in Pennsylvania. So I was hoping for suggestions.

I am hoping to hammock camp. Can people hammock camp in Pennsylvania campgrounds? I know in New York, you can't hammock camp in DEC campsites.

My friends are tent camping. So I was hoping for a campground that is good for both.

I am bringing extra hammocks to try to convert my friends!

First of all where did you see that Hammocks aren't allowed in NYS? I hammock in the ADKs all the time, no ranger, caretaker or Trooper gave it a second look. As long as you use a nice wide tree strap, they shouldn't bother you. In fact, on the online brochure, they have a picture of someone lounging in a hammock.
I found this on the PA site, it doesn't prohibit hammocks:
§ 11.218. Camping; overnight facilities.
(a) Camping. Placing a tent, shelter, lean-to, sleeping bag, bedding material or
mobile camping unit in an area without a valid camping permit for use of that area
is prohibited.
(b) Overnight facilities. Placing personal property in, or otherwise using, a
cabin, yurt, walled tent, camping cottage or other overnight facility without
possession of a valid permit for use of that facility is prohibited.
I guess you can email or call them if unsure.
I used to rent a cabin in the winter at Ricketts Glen, it also has a campground, lake, boats, beach and an awesome waterfall trail. Check it out. I believe Worlds End is nice too.

I would suggest North Jersey (Delaware water gap, stokes, high point) or Harriman in southern ny. If you're set on pa the only decent place is along the AT unless you want to go several hours West into the state.

Yes, indeed, the MAHHA site at Pine Grove Furnace State Park near Gettysburg on the AT is midway between NY and DC and offers superlative hammocking options. For the record, I hammock camped at Lake George, NY at the Roger's Rock Campsite without incident. There are loads of trees from which to hang there as well.
