    I have a question.

To start with I'm an indoor hanger, due to health, I have slept in my Blackbird XLC for most of 2 years with no problems. Then I bought a Chameleon complete set after 2 weeks I went back to the Blackbird. I CAN NOT sleep in the Chameleon no matter what I try without getting up in pain, hip and shoulder. After 3 nights in the Bird pain started to fade. Only thing I can think of is the Bird is double layer.

Every hammock is different and it could be the design but if you are comparing a double layer to a single layer then there are going to be big differences no matter what the material. If you like the BB stick with it but you could also try a double layer Cham and see how you like that as well.

difference in stretch in the fabrics used would likely account for the difference

Are you on the edge of the weight rating for the Chameleon?

I don't think so, 210#.I'm lean8ng towards single layer versus double layer.

Which material for the Chameleon? The Hexon 1.0 is rated to 200 lbs. The 1.6 is 350. I have a single layer Half-Zipped in Hexon 1.6, and it has some stretch and I'm 250.

I find my DL Blackbird's ( I have 3 ) have less stretch to them and feels like they offers more support than my other hammocks that are SL even though I am under the weight bearing capacity of the SL's.

Weight will come into play as my 1.1 DL BB does not seem to offer as much support as the 1.7 DL as I am pushing the weight limit on the 1.1 DL.

I also have a SL BB XLC that I do not find as comfortable as my regular 1.7 DL's.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

My experience is each hammock tends to have its own particular feel. Between brands of our vendors ther is a difference.

My modest Brit hammock does not cause me pain. My Blackbird is so- so pain wise.
The best for me is my RR & Streamsider. With the StreamSider and RR I sleep without pain.

For me with the GE hammocks it is how they are pleated or gathered. With the bridge hammocks I like the shallowness of the RR.

Picking a hammock is as personal as selecting appropriate footwear. Pick the wrong footwear and your back gets cranky and everything gets out of alignment. Personal need vs one fits most.

Not sure how you have set up indoors!.... my thoughts would be to remove the bug net of both hammocks, this then gives for a more neutral hammock body set up.... if you wish, try this out with each of your hammocks, as this will eliminate the bug net configuration with the hammock body in design.... Then you may be able to work out more to different hang positions and what each fabrics used give to a firmer lay or to more give!

Hope this may help with for more enjoyment with your indoor hanging experiences!

Mine is the hexon 1.6 so that rules out weight. Hanging indoors I've never had the bug nets on either hammock. I even tried shorting the ridge line by wrapping around a carbine, raised and lowered each end. I'm afraid the Chameleon might not be for me, worse case is I may have to consider selling and stick with my Bird xlc.
