    Another good one .. Great views and loved that deer shot. Can't believe it didn't pop and run with you guys so near, kind of funny ... How much weight was in that Lowe Alpine pack?

    National Park Deer are kinda laid back about people... when we first saw them, they were right on the rim, probably enjoying the view!

    There was water up there, but the ranger asked us to leave it for the plants and animals. Most of it did not look good, anyway. Skippy had a couple of gallons of water, so his pack was probably over 30 lbs. He had at least twice the water I carried. My pack was lightened by taking no extra food, no rain gear and no clothes other than what I was wearing. I used the Frog Sac and the Speer Top Blanket to keep warm around the camp at night.

    Man, there's strange things happenin' on HF tonight... my avatar changed all by itself! Probably hackers from Mexico...
