Greetings All
I have a new found love for my mail man. For he delivered to me the box of fabric and synthetic insulation for me to create my underquilt and top quilt.
I ordered 4' of 60" wide 2.5oz and 3.7oz Climashield and 9' of 64" wide black 1.1oz nylon for my underquilt. This will create a 48"x60" UQ with channels on all edges for suspension and draw cords.
For the top quilt, I ordered 6' of 60" wide 3.7oz Climashield and 6' each of 64" wide silver/grey (top) and of 64" wide black for the inner side. This will make my top quilt 48" wide tapering to 42" at the foot box.
This DIY stuff is getting addictive. It first started with making an amsteel SLS suspension with whoopies on each end and 2 continuous loops and some climbing descending rings. Then it went on to Zing-It tarp ridgelines and guy lines. Now time to fire up a thread injector and make some 3 season insulation.
I am now picking up speed on this slippery slope of gear making.
Pics to follow when I start the project in the next couple weekends.
Cheers
Brian
