I use elastic hairties and a double ended stuff sack on my crl. I have never tried snakeskin, it just seems to me to just add a whole lot of bulk.

I don't think there is even any way to measure bulk. Not with the mesh skins. Before using them, my tarp stuffed nicely into the stuff sack. With the mess skins added, it's about the same. No more work to stuff it in. Basically the same size before and after.

If u say so I have to believe you as I have never used them or even seen them irl. I have been thinking about diy-ing a single sleeve but for now I m happy with my set-up.

I just looked at my Thunderfly, in the single piece mesh sleeve. It's rolled up and packed into the stuff sack that came with it. The bundle maybe takes a little over half the space in the stuff sack. It really can decrease the bulk.

Do you stuff it? Or you mentioned rolled. Mine still fills the included stuff sack to the top. Not a struggle getting it in, but about an inch taller and it would be a lot easier to stuff. Or maybe warbonnet changes the stuff sack since I bought mine?

They're on the list, but other property and child expenses are closer to the top. I'm also piecing a kit together for 2 adults and a 10 year old, can only grab a couple pieces of gear per paycheck. Remaining essentials: 1 more bug net, 2 tarps and 3 UQ. I'm interested in trying out the cheap Walmart sleeping bag to UQ DIY project, but at the same time also debating between getting jarbridge or cedar ridge synthetic UQs

So many wants! Also want to get some indoor mounting hardware too... Yup, the list will keep growing if I keep talking.

there's still the Loufa trick too, though I've never done it myself, where you buy the cheap plastic loufas and snip the one strand that holds it together in the center and it opens up into a long mesh tube.

Added bonus: if you've got a reasonably small hex or asym tarp, the pocket on the wide end of the SLD sleeve is big enough to pack the whole tarp into, so your sleeve is also a stuffsack.

DANG!!! That's gotta be a larger stuff sack than mine (but it appears to be the same). If not, I will try rolling/stuffing it another way.

Maybe warbonnet uses the same size stuff sack for all their tarps? I first converted mine to a bbbag but I didn't like to wrestle to get my tarp in so I switched to a double sided stuff sack I had laying around from a dutch hammock.

I never measured them, but just sitting side by side my Mamajamba and Thunderfly look the same. The Superfly sack is a little larger. They are all appropriately sized, but maxed out completely with no breathing room. They also have smaller cord locks than the photo above. That larger lock is what I have on my hammock stuff sacks, so something either changed or was just a fluke.
