Cool. Thanks, Shug. By the way, on our weekend trip this past weekend your name kept coming up and we (watford03 and I) found ourselves yelling "whooooo buddy" an awful lot. Thankee, sir, for all your info!

Kelty Triptease for ridge and tie-outs. Awesome stuff but expensive at $14.95 for 50 feet.

I use 1.75 Zing It or Lash It. But thats only because it can be spliced. Pretty much anything works so long as it holds a knot.

However... Its hit or miss getting your exact RL length figured out, unless you already know it. And even then, it varies from hammock to hammock with the same occupant.

Thats why I started making the Adjustable Structural Ridgeline. Its basically a long whoopie sling. It gives you a range of adjustment between 81-82" to 112", IIRC.

There may be another version in the works based on the needs of a particular customer. Hes going to try it out and get back to me.

If you were to use a adjustable structural ridgeline, how strong would the line need to be in order to hold up to the tension put on it? On that same note, what would be the cheapest, trustworthy line?

Lots o' different stuff to use. There's Speer No-Tangle, Kelty Trip Tease, 550 cord, Zing-It, Lash-It, mason's line, etc. Plenty of stuff already mentioned. IMO, I think Speer No-Tangle is da bomb! Give it a go, you probably won't be disappointed.
