Fair enough. Just noticed they had a discounted demo XL so I grabbed that. Shame I missed the preorder!

I'm in my garage in the process of setting up my new XL on my new Tensa stand. Haven't got fastened down to the floor yet but I'm excited, the whole outfit looks great!

Just ordered the standard Draumr with the Fjol pad and Borg tarp. Found a 10 percent off code from a Norway you-tuber. I'm 5' 8" so think it should be long enough. I like the fact that I can try it for 60 days and if not satisfied I can return it. I know Shug said he tried an underquilt on one, just wondering if it would work for winter camping or colder temps?

I jury-rigged my Frankenquilt UQ around the footbox to keep my feet warmer in winter. Just a test. Took some fiddling. A parka over the footbox could/would accomplish the same thing.
Better to get a proper pad with the proper R-Rating for expected temps. I have a Exped Downmat XP 9 for serious cold. https://www.rei.com/product/881904/e...xp-9-with-pump

Thanks Shug, I'll take a look at the Exped pad. Alot easier to set up that way to.

Expensive pad for deep winter camping. Rated to -32
If not going that low you could spend less.

you really need a good winter rated pad. when it's ridiculous cold out, I also add a wool blanket inside the draumr to sleep on, just to give the extra shoulder coverage. I've never had issues with being cold under the pad at all (exped synmat 9) but towards your shoulders/upper arms where you can migrate off the pad is the concern
