You know what? I took it all down and it's been a week, but I do believe you're correct! I think the pole was NOT through the orange loop. That would explain a lot

    Thanks much!

    Thanks everybody for the thoughts!

This was just an impromptu backyard setup. Will absolutely tighten up the tarp, and I have since seam sealed it.

Hoping to go out proper next week but might be next year before I'm outdoors under trees. Sigh.

You could always try setting up in the backyard using two trees / poles / whatever to mimic being in the bush. That way you can work out whether itís the setup or the equipment thatís causing the leak.

Hi vicar7 I'm late to the party, and it looks like you may have already caught this. It looked to me like the tarp extenders were not connected to the main poles correctly. Someone mentioned the orange loop, and they are right about that.

Once the tarp connectors are 'connected' to the main poles, they should be kind of floppy, and (at least the way I set mine up), they point outwards a little, not straight up and down. I leave them kind of floppy until I get my tarp connected to them, and then adjust the tarp connector strings if necessary to get it all angled right.

My tarp is a DIY winter 12' (RSBTR kit), and once connected to the extenders, my tarp sits just a couple or so inches above the main poles. My tarp doors are able to close around the outside end of the poles nicely.

Is your tarp 11' or 12'? If 11', you might even be able to just connect the tarp directly to the main poles and not use the extenders (depending on the ridgeline of your hammock at such).
