I may extend an invitation to a friend of mine. I'm trying to gather enough stuff so he could hang...if not he will be on the ground.assuming he can come

there are also plenty of hangers on www.hikearizona.com who are not aware of the event. you may want to extend the offer across the web, too!

so far, looks like a good list.

im really leaning towards setting up camp at See Canyon on Saturday morning, and just doing a luxury car camp on Saturday with Rook and Skittles and Sarae.
Im liking the devil who sits on my right shoulder... he tells me of spoils like beef brisket, homestyle potatoes with cheesy carrots, and blissful dozing in hammock sipping a margarita and a four peaks kiltlifter back...
**** him! (her) and the temptation!
I dont want to influence any of y'all but think of the eatin' and drinkin' we can accomplish without any of that daylight burnin' hiking to get in the way of festivities..

note: the 260 highway heading east out of payson will bypass the town of Christopher Creek, so watch for signs that will lead to the old 260 highway, then you will drive a short way on this pleasant, forgotten road thru town until you see a convenience store on the right. the road to See Canyon is directly across from this little store, and in about 2.5 miles of dirt, you come to a large cul-de-sac style parking lot. Go directly east on foot across the creek, then you will see us in the only big campspot in the immediate area. here is a tidbit taken from www.hikearizona.com:

"Directions to See Canyon Trailhead: In 2003 SR260 started bypassing the community of Christopher Creek. Member Trishness kindly updated the directions to the following:

From Phoenix: Take 87 N to 260 East and follow 260 for about 21 miles. Between mile marker 274 and 275 there is a huge green sign that says Christopher Creek. Turn left here and follow this road past a few small businesses (about 1/2 mile or so) and take a left onto FR284. This is a well maintained dirt road. Follow this for two miles to it's terminus. There is a huge parking area with restroom facilities.

Nan adds: FR284 is directly across the road from the Market in Christopher Creek, on the west side of the road

Looks like we might get some cool weather this weekend. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...&FcstType=text

What are you guys taking for insulation? I think it might be to warm for my MT. Washington 4UQ but to cold for a CCF pad.

Anyway it should be a fun weekend, I'm looking forward to it. Is anyone going to hike to see canyon from the 360 trail head or is everyone opting for luxury camping and driving to see canyon for sat. night?

Low 30's? I don't think that's too warm for your MW4, although for sure it is probably overkill. If the decision is between the MW4 and a pad based on comfort considerations I would choose the MW4 every time. If you are more concerned about carrying extra weight, a 1/4 ccf would probably get you by too. I'll be taking along my 2/3 length Te-wa underquilt as usual. A few snow flurries would be fun.
