    Warbonnet Ridgerunner w/ Pad

For those of you that have tried, do you think using a pad in the Ridgerunner gives it a significantly flatter lay? Thanks.

Flatter lay with pad? Yes. Significantly? Not really. IMO. The spreader bars do a pretty good job keeping the RR open. I’ve done both (pad and UQ) and prefer UQ.

Flatter depends on how blown up it is, but I prefer pad over an underquilt because I like the extra support and the option to go to the ground if need be (no trees or required to use a shelter).

I use both a pad and a UQ. I did find that I needed a wider pad because I would roll of the edge.

The lay may be a bit flatter but if it's cold you may not like a pad as it's hard to get the seal like the under quite provides. You'll also want to ensure you get a high rated R value if you are using it in cooler/cold weather.

For me, a pad makes the bottom of my (double layer) RR feel wider. It certainly doesn't change the flatness from head to toe. I prefer lying in something that feels wider, so I like the pad. If it's too cold out for just a pad, then I'll use my Lynx UQ as well. That works well.

    Warbonnet Ridgerunner w/ Pad

I started out with a Klymit Status V pad and went to an UQ the following season. I sometimes supplement it with military casualty blanket in the sleeve in colder weather.

It definitely gives a flatter lay if it's inflated fully, but depending on the thickness can also feel more "tippy" and it would need to be pretty well inflated before I would call it "significant". I tried 3 different pads before switching to an underquilt, I never found one that was really comfortable for me. I've also found my one season underquilt to be significantly warmer than any of the pad's I tried (R value's from 3-5.5). Everyone needs to find their own "best feel", for me the pad wasn't it.

I have three different pads for my RR. A thermarest, and two klymit static v luxe pads. One insulated and one not. The klymit pads are 30” wide. So not only do they widen the hammock lay, they also slightly flatten head to toe. Which is already pretty flat anyway. The only downside is they raise you up higher and closer to the bugnet and it’s a little cramped for me. Without the net, it’s by far the most comfy thing I’ve found yet

Like Saltfly I have the kylmit static v lux. It makes a flatter lay, I’d use the word improved rather then significant. I use it with an UQ at times.
As a side note I got mine off of eBay, kylmit sells refurbished ones at substantial discount with free shipping.
