    Smckinney0031: Hope you don’t just follow, but jump right in again. It was nice that we could meet you last time and hope you can make it again this year, even if it’s a long drive.

    Hey all. My wife & I along with my son are interested in attending. We have been hammock camping for a few years now but never attended a hang. With that said, I have a few questions...
    1) Will we be hiking any distance to camp?
    2) Do we need to bring food to share?
    3) (Another food question) Do you guys tend to do actual campfire meals or backpacking meals?

    Thanks ahead of time!!!

    I will jump in on this one;

    1. No hiking required. Camping is a short stroll from the parking lot. Most folks bring a small wagon to make it easier to transport heavy items.

    2. Sharing is not required, but if you want to bring extra, someone will probably partake.

    3. Any type of food you like to bring camping is OK. It is a good place to practice minimalist cooking if you like as well as more complicated dutch oven fare. Whatever you like is fine. Plenty of room to spread out and do whatever you like. [maybe bring firewood if you like campfire cooking-most deadfall wood is usually scarce/used up. Couple of folks usually bring local firewood so we generally have plenty]

    [NOTE] Bring your own water as there is no potable water on site. There are pit toilets.
    [NOTE] Not to scare anyone, but this is bear country-so plan accordingly. We have never had to "bear-bag" but it is good to be bear aware.

    Note to the newbies planning on attending the hang.

    When you get into the gravel parking lot at Raven Cliffs, you will pull around past the toilets. Park anywhere there is available spot, and then walk to the end of the parking lot and take a right down along the river. There used to be a sign saying NO CAMPING [may still be there], but that is just pertaining to the lawn area adjacent to the parking lot. It is difficult to even see the hammocks/tents from the parking lot. The camping area is past the tree line and along the river and TO THE RIGHT. Don't make the mistake of going back towards the main road and taking the trail towards the falls on the left as some folks have done. There ARE camping spots along the trail up to the falls, but none are large enough for a group of our size.

    Thank you inspectorguy.
    Last question...
    Any cost involved? Parking, camp fees, event cost?
