Ok So I seam sealed the inner side of my tarp. Both the pull out and ridgeline. I even threw some on the webbing a very light coat to make sure nothing would seap in. The one thing I LEARNED and advice id give to any one who is seam sealing for the first time is, Do both sides and do the inside first. Thats a great way to pratice, the inside of my tarp seal is way neater then the outside of my tarp. O well now I know for next time. Thanks Shug on the advice of sealing both sides. Cant wait to hose thing thing down and see if I actually did a good job
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I'm with you. Cheap, easy to apply and best of all... it works!

I have received my mega-tarp from Scott and am ready to seal it up....

I am confused which product to use. I have decided to use a McNett product, but when i went to the store, all i found was Seam Grip :
    http://www.mcnett.com/Seam-Grip-Seam...pair-P133.aspx

I thoguht folks had been talking about using SilNet:
    http://www.mcnett.com/SilNet-Silicon...aler-P143.aspx

The SilNet prodcut specifically mentions using on silnylon, but i cant find it in my local outfitters..

Can anyone advise if either one is ok to use?

    Thanks
    Allen

Upon further reading, i foudn this under the seamgrip description:
"From Mc Nett Corporation. A very flexible and abrasion resistant waterproof urethane sealer that seals permanently with one application. Seals seams and can also repair holes and tears. Seals all inside floor & fly seams on an avg. 2-person tent. This product will not work on silnylon fabric -our item# 4026 will- see silicone seam sealer below.

So, i guess i will order the Silnet from somewhere....

See post #11 above. You can probably find it at any automotive supply store.

I've not tried it but the company does make a product specifically for fabric and leather.

My father used it on his hat (but I think that was the stuff meant for wood).
