    Mt. St. Helens circumnavigation

I circumnavigated mt. St. Helens again. First day 10 miles
Second day a bit over 20.
Volcanoes and waterfalls, trees and hammocks,
Columbia River gorge, in Benson Burner's attic.

Good photos Burner. I could have done without seeing the nastiest blister I have ever seen in my life. At least move that thing to the last picture. I bet those final miles made you contemplate cutting that foot off.

Amazing tip to prevent back-of-heel blisters:

Take a candy bar wrapper (anything aluminized and slightly oily on the inside) and put the wrapper inside your sock across the back of your heel.

As you walk, the two oily layers of the wrapper will glide against each other, preventing friction on your heel.

I have used this trick multiple times, always with amusing success.

Eat the candy bar first. You'll feel better than eating it after putting it in your sock.

    Love the pics!

From one blister prone person to another: that's one to wear with pride! Congrats on finishing the trip out dealing with that. Looks like an interesting place to hike!

    Mt. St. Helens circumnavigation

On that night there was massive lightning and thunder. It was semi scary. I was so happy to see my hg cuben hex tarp kept me and my wares and ridge runner quite high and dry. I was worried with the bridge.
Also the boots that did that were the same ones Iíve put hundreds of miles on. I got a new pair of te solomon 4 g or whatever, the same Solomonís I had before but this time 13ís and not 12ís. I asked a friend about it and they said size up to the 13. I had always used the same size. Anyway it was the first trip and we were gonna say an extre night but we didnít and I walked two days worth on that day. Being so wet and doing two days worth is what did me in. Yes, blessed to finish

Another great trick I learned and have used over my many many miles hiked in the army, pantyhose. Wear them between your foot and sock. It prevents friction as well.

And those are some amazing pics of a beautiful place.
