Desperately seeking a break from the unbearable heat generated at the base of the piedmont plateau, we ran towards the foothills of South Carolina.
Jones gap has become one of our favorite go-to locations due to the limited number and large campsites, great park staff, and beautiful and challenging trails.
The weather provided exactly what we wanted. A hot Friday evening became a cooler night that stayed cool and cloudy all day Saturday with a lovely cool night. The rain happened at night and just added to the sleep comfort. During the days it was misty and overcast, but held off from preventing enjoying the park.
It was a great two days of deep rest, relaxation, and observation of natural beauty.
After the extended summer, it is so nice to get back in the woods and use our camp kit.
Lastly, I was the fortunate lottery recipient of some of Sqidmarks gear and it was nice to get some of his gear out into these beautiful hills. Thanks to the good people who gave these items away so they could live on through appreciative hammockers.
Sqid is in the woods!
Happy hanging, folks!
