Anyone interested in hitting up Minister Creek the weekend of the 13-15th? Long range forecast calls for snow. Working on a new winter tarp, and I'm gonna need a test run.

Man I would love to go but I work usually about three weekends a month and this is one of those weekends.
    Never been to minister Creek.
Most of the time if I know a month in advance or so I can have my schedule adjusted. But this just doesn’t give me enough time. But sounds very intriguing to check that area out in the winter time. But this time I will have to pass.
Something I will have to check out in 2020

Usually we barter food, or more likely everyone just makes too much and everyone gets whatever, but no need to bring for everyone if you don't want (I'm too picky to share normally).

and here's a video of last winter's hang:

lets stay warm and have fun!
I will be there for this hang at the end of January. Never been up in this neck of the woods before so I have a couple of questions.
Is there a privy nearby or do we bring the necessary tools to dig cat holes?
    Also:
do we all chip in for firewood?
IHave a truck I could bring some. Not sure how far in the site is from where we park vehicles.
I do have a four wheeled wagon that I could bring along if needed to haul wood.
And any other information on this winter get together would be appreciated.
Ive done other winter hangs in all sorts of weather. But sometimes information is always good to have.

there is a nice, if not cold, outhouse and shelter right there. We spend most of the time within sight of the parking lot, although I have been told I set my hammock up too far away, lol a quarter mile is about right if you don't want to hear the snoring (teasing you Chris).

The ANF has a ban on firewood being transported in, I would refrain unless its kiln dried, the Ash Borers are making a killing around there.

Years past I'm not sure if we haven't just harvested firewood right there. I have seen charcoal used to heat the dutch ovens too.

Ridgway is only a few miles away, they have a Sheetz, Dollar General, and grocery store if anyone needs something other than gear related. Oh and there's Joey's Bakery for Sunday Breakfast for anyone interested (I know Laurie and I will be there).

It's mostly fend for yourself but everyone usually brings so much food that we barter between ourselves, or outright force our food on others lol we always eat good.

I also ask anyone that has extra gear to bring whatever you can, and if someone needs please ask, I'd hate to see someone try to use a tent fly as a winter tarp again...

Thank you that is all good information. I understand about the firewood. That is good to know.
Years ago I used to have a friend that worked at 3 mile Island.
I wonder if nuclear fuel is out of the question?

I was envisioning setting up camp in the vicinity of our usual spot and potentially going on a day hike if the mood strikes. Im not about hoofing around my heavy winter gear on my back for miles, lol.
