A properly trimmed HammockForums vinyl sticker will cover those flowers perfectly. I see a Pimp-My-Thread-Injector contest coming.

as has been said- check out the local machine repair store- older machines are frequently abandoned in favor of newer shiny-er models..and you can get good service as well! KM

Great info here. I want to make some gear, and a search brought me here. I have to make some hammocks for UL bow hunts and some more heated shelters...tarps, stuff sacks.

I use a White, and its plenty sturdy. Mine a different model, but looks comparable to the 1510. Make sure you have all the neccessary doo-dads, and the foot pedal, buying those can add up quick.

For $50.00 bucks, if you don't like it, you could probably sell it here or at a garage sale and not loose any money.

Put in some practice time first. Buy some cheap fabric, and figure out the machine.
Did you get a owners manual?

If I remember correctly White was merged into Kenmore (Sears) at some point a while back. In its heyday White was a very reliable machine. Not on a caliber with the older Singers but certainly nothing to toss away. Depending on when this machine was made I would think it was a good machine. I don't know the model at all. Nor do I remember when White was taken over by Kenmore although they continued to be branded White for a while after that IIRC. If it is one of those transitional machines it may have inherited some of the Kenmore issues. (I'm not a fan of Kenmore or Sears brand products. Just in the interest of full disclosure.)

In any event, if it is good shape and running well it is probably worth the price as long as the foot pedal and presser feet are all with it. You will want a presser foot for zig zag if the machine is so equipped. (wide slot where the needle goes through) and a zipper foot at the very least. If you have zigzag capability then an additional presser foot for straight stitch (small round hole for the needle) can help with very light thin fabrics but it is not essential. (If you have both just make sure not to use the straight foot with the zig zag. You will break the needle sure as anything.)

Enjoy the DIY addiction. Have fun.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."
