It ain't always about hammer'n out the miles....Sometimes it's about just 'hanging out"!

Hi Folks, I have some very sad news. One of the more regular attendee's of the Grayson highlands winter hang in particular, Jim Hanson (allhansondeck here on the forums) has just passed away in a tragic boating accident. I met Jim for the first time at this hang a handful of years ago, and we discovered that we lived fairly close to each other and agreed we should get together do some hiking together, and we did many miles on the AT together and arranged to carpool to various hangs and camping events. We became very good friends. For any of you who ever met Jim, you know that he was not hard to talk to. He was one of the most gregarious, kind hearted, and generous men I have ever met, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel more optimistic and enthusiastic. Jim's wonderful wife Carmel was also injured in the boating accident, and I will surely be keeping her in my thoughts.
I won't be able to make it to the Grayson winter hang this year, but I hope you can all raise a glass or maybe smoke a good cigar for Jim. I imagine he would've liked that.
