    Dual Tripod Hammock Stand

In Big Bend, we used a Dual Tripod Hammock Stand that was made with four (4) poles that are six feet long and two (2) poles that are eight feet long.

Here is the video of the Dual Tripod Hammock Stand on YouTube.

We lashed the poles together, and tied the lower ends to stakes. I am going to tweak it just a little, because it may be possible to use these tripods without any stakes at all. The lashings we used caused the six foot poles to scissor when a load was put on them. I believe it may be possible to bolt the poles together at the tops in such a way that they will tend to stay still under load. We also discussed putting a spike in the bottom of each pole. Stay tuned!

Dang, Mac!!! What did you and Brett not work on during ya'lls time in the desert. I am really liking the idea with this "stand". Please keep up the good work and I will now have to see if I can get one of these made.

1.25" diameter... gotta wait for daylight to see what the wall thickness is. My guess would be something like an eighth of an inch. It's store boughten, Ace Hardware.

BigBamaguy, wait just a little longer, until I've had a chance to test the tripods with the tops bolted. I really think it will make a huge difference. If it works, it will be simple to set up, because you won't have to lash the tops or stake the bottoms. It might even eliminate the backstay. These six poles cost me nearly $100, and it will be well worth it if it can be simpler to use.
