As I had said I'm only thirty minutes from there, so I can actually go and look things over if we decide on a few spots to pick from.

That being said I'm considering being the organizer for this, so if you have any suggestions or ideas let me know.

Hey Adam I will have my uq by then, right

I'd love to come up there--will have to watch the dates. Father's Day may be tough for me as the kids aren't up for 10 mile days yet. Also moving (hopefully) around that time, so weekends may become quite precious in that regard....

Agreed, 10 mile days might be rough on anyone with a kid along... and being Father's Day weekend, those of us with young'uns still at home probably ought to be doing something with them rather than off gallivanting in the woods.

Of course gallivanting in the woods WITH the kids would be a good option, as long as the mileage is a little more kid friendly.

    That would be terrific!!!
Parking and a camp for the first night. Hopefully not a campground but more of a big backwoods spot ... not a drive in.
Think it could get to be a big hang!!!

Hey ....10 miles will be a lot for adults too I bet!
If folks want to bring kids that would be cool ..... maybe even bunch together so kids can be together. What a way to celebrate Fathers Day .... with Dad .... doing what Dad does.
That could lead to two groups ..... the Families and the Loners. Like "Survivor" .... what?

Once more details are available and dates are figured out, there may be two more to add to the list. This would be our first group hang.

Shug right now without actually going on an inspection thats looking like either Winneboujou Bluff or Erik Lake camp sites.

Perch lake could work but thats a drive in campground. I will plan on checking them out either this coming weekend or the following. Will let everyone know what I find.

Samples Road trailhead, if memory serves me correctly, is a large open field right on the side of the road.

Is everyone up for this being a BACKPACKING HANG? ...... 7 to 12 miles per day?
That is the way I like to roll and I think keeping the milage realistic gives time for lolly-gagging and social time.
Still going to be a lot for those that have never backpacked.
Just wanting to see what others prefer.

I like the idea of doing some backpacking. Obviously on any weekend other than Father's Day, the kids aren't as big of an issue. Definitely didn't want to sound like I was forcing this to be a "family" event! I know there are plenty of times when I want to get out in the woods AWAY from kids!
Anywho... we could in theory let everyone HYOH, meaning all meet-n-greet on night one, then maybe split up into a couple of groups... kids and slow-moving adults doing lower mileage, while the hardy adventurers among us could throw down the big miles...

    Just thinking out loud!

I think I'd be up to making this one. Something in June would be great.
