ENO Bug Net Mod More user friendly fo me...

First I need to throw in the disclaimer,,," NOT for Gram Weenies"....
I Like the ENO bug Net, but it was not very user friendly for me...
That little white string for the ridge line would always come out of the hanging hooks, and then the re-tieng and re-tieng that had to take place till I was happy.

Yesterday I was sitting there looking at my toys, and went to work.
I replaced that little thin white string with a bigger diameter piece of utility cord, After threading it through the eye holes on the hanger ching alings, I put stopper knots on the ends to keep that piece from comimg out when packed up. Then tied loops on each end of that.


Then salvaged the chock cord from 2 of those little black ball toggle strecthy ching alings. The doubled piece of shock cord was attached to each end of the utility cord.


Then the suspension straps with cam buckle were attachedto the shock cord.


Worked like a champ. There is no stress on the bug guard itself, and the ridge line can be pulled taunt, the shock cord allows for movement when getting in and out.and still stays taunt,, and it is dang quick to set up.... least-wise for me.....

The suspension web straps come from Academy Sporting Goods, "Boat Dock Straps"$6.99 a pair, 10 feet long each. The loops are alreaddy sewn on each end.

I use them on my hammocks and now on the ENO bug Net also.

Could you attach the hooks to a tarp ridgeline, if you have a under tarp ridgeline?

I found that stringing the hammock thru the bugnet was a pain so when I stow the bugnet and got it all scrunched up together , before I pull the bugnet off the hammock I run a circle of shock cord (in this case a hair tie) thru the bugnet end and clip it off with a biner. Now it's simple to find both ends and to quickly thread the bugnet over the hammock.







next I'm gonna make a "mega-mouth" on one end so when I have pad and sleeping bag in the hammock I can still slide the bugnet over it all and have it out of the way when I don't want to use it. and it will be simple enough to slide it back into the deployed position come buggy nite time.

I also have a warbonnet bugnet and I have 17" of sew type velcro left from my last project so I'm gonna mod that bugnet first. I was thinking about using a zipper on the eno but I can have more velcro by going over to walmart today and have both projects finished.



I'll be removing that stuff sack as well ........

Thanks for this one Randy!!! Did it with mine but left a LOT of extra line in place. Totally new to hangin so we will see what we can do with it!!
