OK... So I just got all the 7/8 Amsteel blue for the project. The local news station did a story on what they are working on, so I figure Id post it here. Im headed up this Sat afternoon to deliver the rope.

Some specs...
Weight is 1200 pounds.
Dropped from 80' it will generate almost 20,000 pounds of force. They are shooting for 80'. But they will start with 10' and work their way up based on the advice of the crane operator.
They plan on doing several test drops with different lengths of rope to see what the crane can handle. The crane operator is unsure if the onboard weighing system will accurately record the shock load of the drop as it will only be generated for a split second.
