Bunch of adults on here talking about this young lady and her videos is exactly what she needs to promote her adventures. We are all giving her "clicks" and some are engaging with her. These things help her. And you know what, good for her! She's clearly just posting things as she experiences them, as she says over and over. Anyone that can get mad at what she says or does must be suffering from some secret sorrow.

I just got around to watching Dixie’s video. With that said, I like Dixie, I don’t necessarily relate to all her videos (I’ve only watched a handful anyway) but I think it’s pretty cool that she’s willing to give hammocking a go.
She comes across humble & as someone who put some time into researching a good set up. When I was doing my research I was darn close to pulling the trigger on a WWBB and so many others in this forum have done the same or bought one, so a totally understandable choice.
    Kudos to Dixie!!

I could not care less about her hammock experience. She's done more than most of us combined solo in the woods and middle of the desert. Straight badass.

Yeah, I don't understand the negative comments here. She's a total badass. A triple crown hiker, completed the El Camino too. And she doesn't accept anything from gear companies. No paid reviews. I actually unfollowed almost all hiking channels on youtube except shugemery and Homemade Wanderlust. Why all the hate?

I like her videos. She is honest and doesn't claim to know everything. At least she puts in the miles earning her credibility with me. YouTube is full of posers doing gear reviews and preaching the gospel, but spend only a couple weekends a year actually out in the thick. I still watch a lot of them just for pure entertainment value, but hyoh and good luck.

    Dixie’s trying Warbonnet

I’m somewhere in the middle on Dixie.

Definitely give her cred for hiking 7000+ miles and finishing the triple crown. And she does a good job on the videos.

On the other hand she gave up the hammock after 30 miles. I have no problem with that given what she had and the tent has obviously helped her accomplish her goals. And besides who really had all their gear finalized forever on their first backpacking trip (looking at you my old 4-person Eureka tent).

I just prefer hammock advice from somebody that actually hiked a long trail with a hammock or from one of y’all. Nothing against Dixie - just think many of us have done as much or more research.

Wow, that is one interesting tent. It would be too flat for me and my weird back, but it's cool to see a suspended tent.

Also, nice landscaping job, Shug! I wish my front yard looked like that. Particularly now when I'm having to go out and mow during a 100+ heat index.

Just got back last night from a trip with it. Sept 12 hours the first night so not too shabby. A wee heavier than my normal hammock set up but it was fun.
And good for Dixie for giving it a go. When you do You Tube consistently...one needs fodder.
