And a big THANK YOU from me as well!
Much appreciated.
Right on & thanks.
I haven’t finished reading this whole thread but my two cents would be rather the splitting the forum into a UL section and a normie section it would be better to just tag posts as Ultralight. So people can use tags to find all the posts in the tarp section that are ultralight.
I don’t want to have to look in multiple places to find the best info.

Thank you!
Saw it this morning and wished for enough time to get the first post in! Had to leave for work.
It still makes sense to tag the posts as UL as they will shore up in the general search possibly folks took DM section. But that’s only as good the uniformity in the tags used.. UL versus ultralite, ultra lite, ultra light etc

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

As mention above, UL is as much a philosophy as it is specific gear. So discussions can, AND HAVE, moved from the original topic and sub-forum category to content where the moderator has to move the post. No one wants to intentionally hijack someone else’s post, but it happens naturally - as do normal conversations - starting at X and ending a Y. Sometimes “Y" no longer fits the original thread.
That’s not to say the UL forum would become the Wild West of discussions - just that the boundaries could be wider.
Although we do try to keep a narrow focus on threads, there is no guarantee that a “what’s the best hammock” thread won’t contain information on an UL stove. I understand the desire to say, “If I want to read EVERYTHING about a tent stake, I just want to look in one place. But that just doesn’t happen. Life is messy.
For me it’s a matter of critical mass. When the Church of Ray Jardine was founded, it was just a small cult. But it seems there now there’s enough “UL" gear/discussions/content. Wasn’t that a line in some movie, “… if you open the sub-forum they will come. …”
